Legato turns ordinary glasses into hearing aid
Legato incorporates hearing aid into corrective glasses. Here is their operation, price, autonomy and real limits in Canada.

Following a conversation in a noisy restaurant can become difficult long before a person decides to wear a hearing aid. Legato proposes another form: glasses that correct the view, capture sounds and amplify the speech without placing anything in the ear.
The Legato Frames were marketed in the United States on October 1, 2026. They only apply to adults with perceived mild or moderate hearing loss. Their sale in Canada is not confirmed.
A hearing aid hidden in the branches
Integrated microphones capture ambient noise and voices. A neuronal network operating directly in the frame then tries to distinguish speech from other sounds, reduce noise and apply an amplification adapted to the hearing profile of the user.
The sound is directed towards the ears by aerial conduction, without earphone inserted into the duct. This design therefore lets pass the natural sounds of the play at the same time as the amplified speech.
Legato says a two-speaker system cancels 99% of the sound that escapes a few inches of the ear. This measure comes from the manufacturer and its complete method is not published. We'll have to check the real discretion in a quiet room.
The treatment is carried out on the mount. According to the [Legato technical sheet] (https://www.legatohearing.com/pages/how-it-works), glasses do not have cameras, do not record conversations and do not sell the auditory profile. These confidentiality commitments come from the manufacturer.
Three frames and a day of autonomy
Harmony and Symphony models cost US$999, while Aria costs US$1,099. The full range is therefore between 999 and US$1,099, before taxes and options. Prices may vary depending on the glasses, prescription, coatings, insurance, promotion and region.
All three styles accept Pentax corrector or non-corrector lenses. The lightest versions weigh about 34 g with their glasses, reports HearingTracker. The final weight depends on the prescription and choice of lens.
The announced range is 10-12 hours with hearing aid. A full recharge takes about two hours, and 30 minutes would return approximately two hours of use. These data have not yet been reproduced by an independent endurance test.
Branches include volume, deafness and call controls. Bluetooth 5.3 also allows you to listen to music or answer the phone with an iOS or Android device. A battery discharge however causes hearing aid and audio functions to lose, even if the glasses continue to correct the view.
A good acoustic result, not yet a complete clinical trial
The independent HearAdvisor laboratory awarded the Legato Frames a SoundScore of 4.6 out of 5 in May 2026. The result ranked them among the top ten devices tested, according to The Hearing Review.
This score combines inter alia intelligibility in calm and noise, feedback, perception of his voice and musical diffusion. It provides a useful technical check, but not a long-term clinical trial on comfort or understanding in all situations.
Legato describes its product as the first hearing glasses based on AI. This commercial formula must be nuanced: Nuance Audio already sells hearing glasses, and other devices use algorithms to improve speech. The novelty is mainly due to the precise combination of the mount, local processing and commercial positioning of Legato.
Regulation and Availability in Canada
In the United States, Frames are presented as over-the-counter hearing aids regulated by the FDA. This category allows adults to purchase a device for mild or moderate loss without a prescription from an audiologist; It does not mean that the product is suitable for all hearing loss.
Sales started on Legato's American website. A deployment to some eye care offices is expected to follow later in October. The manufacturer does not announce any distributor, Canadian dollar price or Canadian date.
No specific Canadian registrations were found in the sources consulted. Therefore, it should not be assumed that a U.S. order can be delivered or supported in Canada. A US price conversion would be approximate and is not provided here.
Limits or Considerations
Asymmetric, sudden, severe or accompanied hearing difficulty, marked tinnitus or discharge requires professional assessment. Glasses sold directly cannot determine the cause of the problem.
The shape must also suit the face and ears. Unlike an independent hearing aid, changing the frame, repairing a branch or replacing glasses can simultaneously interrupt the visual correction and hearing aid.
Finally, the opening of the duct improves comfort, but lets in all the ambient noise. The effectiveness will depend on the direction of voice, acoustics, wind, fit and the actual degree of hearing loss.
Conclusion
The Legato Frames bring together two objects carried daily and make hearing aid less visible. Their local treatment, their announced autonomy and their independent acoustic result make them more credible than a simple concept.
However, they remain an expensive, limited-need US product. Extended testing, confidentiality verification and clear Canadian certification will be required before they are considered as a solution available here.
